Sloth Life 3

It had been a month since Keanna found herself lost in the jungle, and her body had undergone considerable changes. In a day, her arms had turned into sloth arms; a week later, her lower half had also transformed into a sloth.

A few days later, after her lower half had transformed while climbing through the trees, her top got caught on a branch and was ripped off her body. A few seconds later, her torso transformed into that of a sloth. Keanna had not noticed the changes as she was too busy eating leaves.

While climbing through the trees, Keanna found some large leaves clumped together, which had caused a puddle of water to form. She reached down to scoop up some water with her paw. She paused and looked at her reflection.

“Is there something wrong with me?” Keanna asked herself. She then scooped up some water, drank it and looked at herself again in the reflection. Fur was now growing out of Keanna’s chin, and her nose was turning upwards and becoming a darker colour. Keanna took several more scoops of water, and each time she looked at her reflection, it became more sloth-like until her transformation was complete. Keanna's eyes were still human, and her lips were still puffy like a human. Her hair was now the same colour as her fur except for one tuft of her fringe, which remained her human colour.

Looking at her reflection now, Keanna said, “must have been something in the water. I look fine.” She then grabbed hold of the branch and continued on her way.

While her physical transformation was complete, Keanna was still a few feet bigger than a regular sloth. Keanna's mind was now becoming more sloth-like. Her mind began to slow down and become dull, with memories of her human life becoming a hazy dream.

Days later, Keanna heard noises on the ground below.

“I hate doing this,” a female voice said.

“I know, Jess," came a male voice, “but loggers are coming to chop down this part of the jungle. We must capture as many animals as possible and relocate them to another area.” Jess sighed.

“Fine,” she replied.

Keanna stared at the creatures below her. She recognised them but could not put her claw on it as her sloth mind made it hard to think of complicated things. Eventually, it came to her.

Huuu… mmmaaanns, she thought to herself. They… Cooomee… Fooorrr… Mmmmeeee.

Keanna then let go of the branch she was holding onto and fell onto the jungle floor with a loud THUD. The scientists turned to see the large mound of fur that had landed on the floor by them. Slowly Keanna sat up, and then clumsily stood on her hind legs trying to be human.

“What kind of sloth is that, James?” Jess asked.

“I have never seen a sloth like this before,” James said excitedly. “It's a new species of sloth.”

Keanna then lost her balance and fell face-first onto the ground. The two humans dashed over to Keanna.

“We need to take it back for medical care,” James said, looking at the trees above them. “Who knows what damage might have happened when she fell?”

With that, Keanna was taken out of the jungle and placed in a research facility where crowds of people came from far and wide to see her. She became a celebrity she never could be when she was a human, all because she took the slow life.
