The village was beset on by a powerful Rat demon in possession of a jewel shard and his army of lesser rats, but Kagome and her group was there to cast off the vicious attack and wipe out a large number of the rat demon's followers. before making his escape the Rat Demon declared a curse on this land and all its inhabitants. Inuyasha and Miroku went to perform a counter offensive leaving Sango, Kagome and Shippo to stay back and defend the injured village still reeling from the demons' attack. As night fell and the moon rose the The Rat Demon's curse was revealed. Many of the villagers began turning into lesser rats themselves and immediately assaulted their former protectors. Left with no other option they try to make their escape slaying any of the former villagers that get in their way, but the rats made use of their knowledge of their village to corner them. Shippo managed to keep some of the Rats off their back with his fox magic, but in such close range the girls were at a disadvantage. Although Sango was able to slay 4 rats with one throw of her Hiraikotsu she was descended on by 3 others before she could swing again. With Sango being swarmed, Kagome's archery could barely keep up with the onslaught, and it wasn't long until one rat managed to break through and bite her. Shippo quickly turned and scorched the rat attacking Kagome, as Songo dispatched her assailants using her shortblade Katana. Wounded, Sango stumbles back to Kagome and Shippo as the 3 form a defensive perimeter. The assault seems to suddenly subside as the rats have the group surrounded but seem to be content with merely chitter to themselves observing their prey with their 3 red eyes locked onto them. Kagome with her bow drawn scans the sea of red eyes, ready to strike down any that makes a move towards them. She whispers to her friends to try to coordinates an escape plan. her train of thought interrupted by Sango as she drops her katana and crumples to her hands and knees. her body spasms as a tail rips from her backside. Her body suit begins to give way, revealing grey fur taking over her bare skin. Kagome and Shippo could only look in disbelief as her shape continues to distort. Drawing her gaze from her quivering friend on the ground Kagome looks back to the horde of demons observing them when a realization came upon her. this curse wasn't like any regular spell on the land, it was contagious like a plague! Her heart starts to palpitate, as she suddenly felt short of breath and began breaking out in a cold sweat. Kagome was suddenly hit with a wave of pain across her body, as if her very form was trying to break away from her forcing her to her knees. Shippo turned to Kagome in concern as her hand seized up causing her to drop her bow. with muffled grunts of pain Kagome brought her hands to her face as she saw her hands' delicate fingers start to change into clawed paws. She felt a tail grow out of her back towards the ground, quickly slithering out from under her miniskirt. At the same time she flinched as she felt her face stretch out slightly along with her teeth as they began to reflect more rodent-like features. Sango's anguished wails caught back her friends attention as her cries begin to go higher in pitch. she turns her head revealing to her friends her changed face almost identical to the rats that surround them. her eyes pleading to them for help before wincing in pain as a rat like squeak escapes her rodent maw. at that moment a slit forming on Sango's fore head began opening slowly revealing a red demon eye that matched the rest of the villagers. Kagome could only look on in dread as a wave of heat followed suit. Fur that started sprouting across her body from under her school uniform. she felt her feet cramp from inside her shoes before the shoes began to give way to her new rat paws. her eyes started tearing up, for her transforming friend and her own fate to follow. Contracting the curse themselves Kagome and Sango are now about to add to the swelling numbers of the Rat Demon's replenished army.
