Beast World Themyscira Part 4: Circe

Wonder Woman and Mary Marvel ventured further into Aeaea, investigating mysterious magical lights emanating from it. Following them were their transformed friends Artemis, Cassandra, and Yara, the only thing that kept their minds from becoming bestial being the Lasso of Truth that tied all three of them together. As they walked, once in a while, random bolts of magic flew through the sky, the source coming from the direction the group was heading.

Eventually, the group came to a scorched clearing, and in the center stood a scarlet-colored Starro facing away from the group. The magical lightning was being fired out from the creature's arms, but it was not just firing into the air, but at itself as well.

Wonder Woman made the first move towards the Starro, and the beast turned to face her, causing her to stop. In the center of the Starro’s body, Wonder Woman could see the face of the sorceress Circe. Then the face began to change into one giant eyeball, and then the magic lightning hit it, causing Circe's face to return. Circe saw Wonder Woman and moaned, “Di—an–aaaaa” before her face turned back into the eyeball, which proceeded to fire a magical beam at her.

Wonder Woman swiftly raised her bracelets to protect herself, but the blast sent her flying back to the rest of her team. The Starro proceeded to fire magic bolts at the team, causing them to take cover, but it seemed Circe was still within the Starro, fighting back, causing the magic to fly all over the place.

While the team ducked for cover, Artemis was still not used to her longer cobra body and left the end of her tail exposed to a magic bolt. Artemis let out a yelp and raised her tail to look at the damage to find that it now had fur on the end.

“Well, now we know who created the hybrid creatures,” Wonder Woman said. “But why?”

With the wisdom of Minerva, Mary worked it out. “The spores are trying to create another conqueror,” she said. “The Titans are preventing Beast Boy Starro from descending on Earth, so the spores are creating another Starro with animal transformation knowledge who also has the power to enhance those the spores infect by turning them into chimaeras.”

Not wanting another Starro to wreak havoc and further threaten the anthropomorphic creatures on Earth, they quickly formulated a plan. Once the group had a plan, they charged out from their hiding spot, headed towards Circe, avoiding the blast she fired at them. When they got close enough, Mary, Artemis, Yara, and Cassandra would hold down Circe’s arms, making sure she could not fire any more magic beams. Wonder Woman would then attack Circe’s center with an array of blows in an attempt to knock her out, which would also make the Beast Boy Spore leave her body, turning her back to normal.

Wonder Woman's strikes seemed to be doing very little against Circe’s starfish body, so she kept on increasing the strength of her punches until one of Wonder Woman's strongest punches caused the spore to fly out of Circe's mouth and into Wonder Woman's before she had a chance to block it. As the unconscious Circe returned to normal, Wonder Woman's friends could only watch as Wonder Woman transformed into a beast.
